This is a spoilerful review of Outcast by Aaron Allston.

DVR is a wonderful invention.  I record all this stuff to watch, and for the first time in my life I am making my own decisions on what to buy because I no longer watch commercials.  I now eat Reece’s Puffs cereal because I am no longer under that Silly Rabbit’s spell.  I now drink Diet Coke because I no longer have to be like Mike.  I buy Matchbox cars because I don’t hear that guy talking at the speed of light about Micro Machines.  It is freedom, and I watch all my favorite shows over and over again.  When I am watching a rerun, my wife without fail says, “We have seen this one,” to which I respond, “You know I don’t remember the ending.”  My bad memory helps me to enjoy reruns over and over again making my DVR a treasure trove of endless entertainment.  Well, a bad memory will also help you to enjoy Outcast.  It has some continuity flaws that with a good memory, that notices such things, might bother you, but since continuity flaw usually have to be pointed out to me because of my bad memory, I rarely notice such things, and so this is a story I really enjoyed.
